Getting Started

System Requirements

  • macOS 13.0 (Ventura) or higher
  • Approximately 10MB of available storage space
  • Intel or Apple Silicon processor

Installation

  1. Download the latest version of ImmersiveTime from the download page.
  2. Unzip the downloaded file.
  3. Drag the ImmersiveTime application to your Applications folder.
  4. Launch ImmersiveTime from your Applications folder or using Spotlight.

First Launch

When you first launch ImmersiveTime, you'll see the app icon appear in your menu bar. Click on the icon to access the main menu. From here, you can:

  • View the current time in your local time zone
  • Add additional time zones
  • Access the app's preferences
  • Set up countdowns

Basic Usage

ImmersiveTime displays the current time in your menu bar. The app is designed to be minimalist and unobtrusive, while providing powerful time zone management features.

Menu Bar Display

By default, ImmersiveTime displays the current time in your system's time zone in the menu bar. You can customize the format of this display in the app's preferences.

Main Menu

Clicking on the menu bar icon opens the main menu, which shows:

  • Current time in your selected time zones
  • Options to add or remove time zones
  • Access to the floating clock feature
  • Countdown options
  • Preferences and settings

Managing Time Zones

Adding Time Zones

  1. Click on the ImmersiveTime menu bar icon
  2. Select "Add Time Zone" from the menu
  3. Search for a city or time zone name, or browse by region
  4. Click on the desired time zone to add it to your list

Removing Time Zones

  1. Click on the ImmersiveTime menu bar icon
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) on the time zone you want to remove
  3. Select "Remove" from the context menu

Reordering Time Zones

You can change the order of your time zones in the preferences:

  1. Click on the ImmersiveTime menu bar icon
  2. Select "Preferences" from the menu
  3. Go to the "Time Zones" tab
  4. Drag and drop time zones to reorder them

Floating Clock

The floating clock feature allows you to have a clock window that stays on top of other windows, making it easy to keep track of time while working.

Enabling the Floating Clock

  1. Click on the ImmersiveTime menu bar icon
  2. Select "Show Floating Clock" from the menu

Customizing the Floating Clock

You can customize the appearance and behavior of the floating clock:

  1. Click on the ImmersiveTime menu bar icon
  2. Select "Preferences" from the menu
  3. Go to the "Floating Clock" tab
  4. Adjust size, opacity, position, and other settings

Moving the Floating Clock

You can drag the floating clock to any position on your screen. The position will be remembered between app launches.

Countdown Feature

ImmersiveTime includes a countdown feature that allows you to track time until important events.

Creating a Countdown

  1. Click on the ImmersiveTime menu bar icon
  2. Select "Countdown" from the menu
  3. Choose "New Countdown"
  4. Enter a name for your countdown
  5. Set the target date and time
  6. Click "Create"

Using Preset Countdowns

ImmersiveTime includes preset countdowns for common holidays and events:

  1. Click on the ImmersiveTime menu bar icon
  2. Select "Countdown" from the menu
  3. Choose "Preset Countdowns"
  4. Select a preset from the list

Managing Countdowns

You can view, edit, and delete your countdowns:

  1. Click on the ImmersiveTime menu bar icon
  2. Select "Countdown" from the menu
  3. Choose "Manage Countdowns"
  4. From here, you can edit or delete existing countdowns

Preferences

ImmersiveTime offers various customization options through its preferences panel.

General Preferences

  • Launch at login: Set ImmersiveTime to start automatically when you log in
  • Time format: Choose between 12-hour and 24-hour time formats
  • Show seconds: Toggle the display of seconds in the time
  • Menu bar display options: Customize what information appears in the menu bar

Appearance

  • Theme: Choose between light, dark, or system theme
  • Custom colors: Set custom colors for various elements
  • Background image: Add a custom background image
  • Transparency and blur: Adjust the transparency and blur effects

Notifications

  • Countdown notifications: Get notified when countdowns reach zero
  • Time zone change notifications: Get notified about daylight saving time changes
  • Custom alerts: Set up alerts for specific times

Keyboard Shortcuts

ImmersiveTime supports several keyboard shortcuts to enhance productivity:

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

ImmersiveTime doesn't appear in the menu bar

Try these steps:

  1. Restart the application
  2. Check if you have too many menu bar items which might be causing some to be hidden
  3. Try restarting your Mac

Time zones are incorrect

Ensure your system time and time zone are set correctly. ImmersiveTime relies on your system's time settings as a reference.

Application crashes on startup

Try removing the application's preferences file:

  1. Open Finder
  2. Press ⌘+Shift+G
  3. Enter ~/Library/Preferences/
  4. Find and delete any files containing 'immersivetime' in their name
  5. Restart the application
